the end of summer

I meant to type this earlier, but i didn't save it so here is a short and sweet recap of the orange county fair.  The fair is one of my favorite places to go during the summer to people watch and see what new and outrageous / disgusting food choices there are.  i tried a candy apple for the first time (not awesome) and a deep fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  I love peanut butter and jellies BUT this was disgusting and looked like a round mound of brown.

Love in the Mail

Today i got home from work and had two packages on my door step.  generally speaking getting stuff in the mail is always fun when you have bought something and are waiting for it, but today it was a surprise!

My first gift was from my beautiful, fun, loving, friend Leah!!! she is my tell it as it is go to sister.  Always have a really insightful outlook and perspective.  She bought me A Guided Journal Captivating: Unraveling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul by John & Stasi Eldredge.  I  can't wait to crack it open.

My best friend from High school, Ayela bought me Snow White illustrated by one of my favorite artists; Camille Rose Garcia.

I am so blessed to have two beautiful, loving, and amazing friends in my life!  I love both you beautiful ladies dearly!

Brighten someone day by sending a encouraging text, email, or better yet hand written note in the mail.

Lots of fun mail surprises!

My First Makeup Tutorial on YouTube!!!!

I am so blessed to go to Paul Mitchell the School Costa Mesa and I had the opportunity to enter a contest with CAO Cosmetics to film a makeup tutorial using their amazing products!  I have always wanted to start filming tutorials, but was too scared to.  I have to say it was a ton harder than I imagined.  Props go out to all the YouTube gurus out there, because it is hard to talk the entire time!!!

The look that I chose to do was a modern twist on the always classy Pin-Up look.  My beautiful friend Mel was my model and my dear friend Ronnie filmed it for me.  I also had Kwinn pop in and gave moral support half way through it.

The founder of CAO was a guest speaker at our school and I unfortunately was not able to meet him, but I am lucky enough to have their basic makeup kit!!! It is the perfect starter kit for anyone that wants to start doing makeup or wants for themselves.  My favorite part of the kit is the basic concealer pallet.  To the untrained eye it may appear that there are tons more colors than you would think about using, BUT I show you how to use all of them in my video!
Here are the links to the stuff I used:
Brushes: All of these can be found in the Basic Brush set
Brush 116
Brush 119
Brush 109
Brush 102
Brush 114

Smile at someone today!!

First Fashion Show

Can't believe i have been in school for almost six months already! Time has been flying by!!! It probably helps that i have fun activities like this amazing fashion show i worked on for Fun-Raising at Paul Mitchell the School Costa Mesa.  This was my first fashion show ever and i learned a ton.  I learned that i should have pushed myself to be more creative, and i learned a ton about myself.  I was so lucky to have two beautiful models and to collaborate with two talented stylists.  Our inspiration was Horton Hears a Who.
Jazmin on the left and Tanya on the right
Jazmin in the pink was supposed to be the puff the Who's live on

Tanya was the vulture

To build the head pieces we used wire as the mold and attached synthetic hair with old school hair spray and spray adhesive to make it stick together.  We then pinned the pieces into place and covered the edges with hair.  For Jazmin i used an airbrush gun to color her hair a light pink. For Tanya we corn rowed half of her hair and teased the rest in the back up.

For makeup on Jazmin i used an airbrush gun to lighten her complexion and used a glue stick and concealer to cover her eyebrows.  I then used eyelash glue to attach the feathers.  I lined her eyes with winged black liner and attached false lashes to her top lashes and another set to the top of her cheeks.  I then used concealer to cover her lips and line with pink in a heart shape and filled with purple eyeshadow.

Makeup for Tanya was pretty simple.  On her face her regular foundation was applied and feathers were applied to her eyebrows.  Then black eyeshadow was applied to her lids, black liner, and false lashes.  A stencil of netting was used with an airbrush gun to apply the pattern to her skin.  Her lips we lined on the edges with black 24-7 eyeliner from Urban Decay and in the center filled in with bright orange lip liner to look like a beak.
The Finished Product
To see the other amazing creations from other stylist, you can watch this clip HERE, at 3:44 you can see Tanya.  I can't wait to show you more fun stuff.
Lots of Love,
Casie

Nomi Abadi and Spring

IT’S THE BEGINNING OF MAY AND EVERYTHING IS NEW!!!

The most awesome thing to happen in May so far is my dearest friend Nomi Abadi has a huge article in this month’s Rising Magazine.
Courtesy of Joel Sigerson, and Ivy's socks

She is so incredibly talented and has worked so hard to get where she is and it’s like everything is coming into fruition for her.  It is so awesome to be able to celebrate this with her.  I don’t get to see her as much as I would like to but we both share in the love of everything fun and different.
Take a listen to Nomi’s new album Chase/No Running on iTunes or like her on Facebook.
Lots of love,
Casie
